Western Sydney University's BatsLab is dedicated to conducting scientifically rigorous and important research on the biology of Australia's bats.
The outcomes of our research provide critical data that informs the conservation and management of our bats and their habitats. Unfortunately, despite their proven benefits to ecosystems, and intrinsic value as a key component of mammal diversity, our knowledge of bat biology is still far from adequate and generally is far less than for other more conspicuous fauna groups. Key knowledge gaps remain that hinder our ability to assess their conservation status and guide management actions to help secure their persistence in a rapidly changing world.
